Roblox Installer Stuck at 90% (Windows 10/11 Fix)

Roblox Installer Stuck at 90% (Windows 10/11 Fix)

You download Roblox, run the installer, and… it gets stuck around 90% forever.

This issue is usually caused by:

  • Leftover Roblox files from previous installs.
  • Antivirus or firewall blocking the installer.
  • Broken Windows temp or network settings.

Let's fix it step by step.

1. Cancel the Install and Close All Roblox Processes

  1. Close the installer window.
  2. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  3. End any process named:
    • RobloxPlayerInstaller
    • RobloxPlayerLauncher
    • Roblox

2. Clean Temporary Roblox Files

  1. Press Win + R → type:
%localappdata%\Roblox
  1. Delete the entire Roblox folder.
  2. Open C:\Users\<YourName>\AppData\Local\Temp and delete any Roblox-related files.
  3. Empty Recycle Bin.

3. Reset Network Components

The installer needs to download additional files. If your network stack is corrupted, it can hang at 90%.

  1. Open Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Run:
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
  1. Restart your PC.

4. Temporarily Disable Antivirus / Firewall

Third-party antivirus can silently block Roblox downloads.

  1. Disable real-time protection in your AV software.
  2. Keep Windows Defender Firewall on, but turn off overly strict modes.
  3. Try the installer again.

After the install finishes, you can re-enable everything and add Roblox to the allow-list.

5. Use the Launcher Instead of Old Installers

  1. Go to:
%localappdata%\Roblox\Versions
  1. Open the newest folder (long ID name).
  2. Right-click RobloxPlayerLauncher.exeRun as administrator.

If there is no Versions folder at all, download a brand-new installer from the official site — not from old backups or copies on USB drives.

FAQ

Q: I see "RobloxPlayerLauncher.exe - Bad Image" error. What now? This usually means corrupted system libraries. Run sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth from an elevated Command Prompt.

Q: Does deleting Roblox folders remove my games? No. Everything important is stored in your online Roblox account.
